COROLLA VERSO (upcoming)

"Corolla Verso", openly inspired by David Cronenberg's film "Crash" (1996), is a composition for harp and fixed media that explores various forms of metamorphosis. The name is derived from the well-known Toyota car model, launched in 1997. 

Through the experience of symphorophilia (a paraphilia involving sexual arousal from the conception, staging, or direct observation of accidents, collisions, and catastrophes) the work stages a series of transformations: flesh and metal, the human and the mechanical, venery and self-annihilation. 

The harp, whose strings are made of gut, nylon, and metal, becomes the material embodiment of these dichotomies. In a state of perpetual transition, harp and electronics intertwine with sonic remnants of traffic accidents, generating a new musical ecosystem shaped by violent and perverse imagery.
